Variance Fundamentals
Designed for home owners or contractors with little or no plaster experience.
Teaches fundamental plastering techniques and the three main Variance products
for interior use.
Time: 10:00am to 1:00pm
Cost: $100 per person
Class Agenda:
- Product and texture overview and discussion
- Demonstration of select Variance products
- Hands-on training including fundamentals of plastering and helpful techniques for novice plasterers
Additional information:
- Materials used in class are included
- Everyone receives a Variance t-shirt, a Variance training DVD, and a Venetian trowel
General Application Training
Designed for plastering contractors or other tradespersons serious about
learning how to apply Variance products for large scale use. The class
starts off with a 30 minute discussion of the Variance products. Then,
for approximately 2 hours, the instructor will demonstrate how each Variance
finish is created, along with maintenance and repair techniques. For the next
4 to 5 hours each attendee will receive intensive hands-on application training
where they will learn how to apply each finish.
Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Cost: $165 per person

- Demonstration of all Textures
- Maintenance and Repair Techniques
- Intensive hands-on training of all Variance products

- Everyone receives a Variance t-shirt, a Variance training DVD, a certificate of completion, and a Venetian trowel
- Lunch is provided
Variance Advanced Applicator Training
Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm
Cost: $215 per person per day
Each student shall satisfactorily complete a full 4 x 8 sheet of each product.
Certificates issued will be product specific, the products that the student
learns and demonstrates proficiency in will be listed. Students do not have to
attend both days to receive an Advanced Applicator Certificate. If a student is
primarily interested in Brio and Claro they may chose only to take the first day,
the certificate they receive will reflect this. If a student fails to demonstrate
ability to produce a satisfactory finish they may re-do their board with the
assistance of the instructor until the instructor feels they have learned the
product sufficiently. Each student will have the opportunity to retest on a
specific product after the class for an additional $50.00 if they unable to
master the product during class. Each student shall finish a 6’ wall section
with a bullnose corner in Claro and Alto if attending both days. If the initial
application is not satisfactory it may be run again until it meets Variance
standards. Students shall complete a satisfactory patch on each product.
Patching ability will be required in order to receive product listing on the
certificate.
Class Agenda:
- Day 1 – Solido, Claro, Brio
- Day 2 - Alto, Tierra, Arena, VariStain
Benefits:
- Only applicators that have been through AAT will be on the applicator list that is circulated to customers.*
- Applicators that have been through AAT will be listed in the new Applicator
section of the Variance website with a short profile and a link to their website.
- AAT provides the training that is necessary to start doing projects right away.
* Customers that have extensive on the job experience using Variance products
may have the opportunity to receive certificates at the discretion of Variance
Finishes without attending AAT.
